Greed has no boundaries
Rampant and illegal sand mining along the Cauvery and its tributaries are killing the river slowly. There is no flow, and Cauvery almost seems stagnant at some places. Sand plays a very important role in groundwater recharge. The river needs protection from illegal activities that will destroy the habitat, and change the course of the river. These illegal activities will cause deepening of the rivers and estuaries, and the enlargement of river mouths and coastal inlets.
